What is quartz glass, the basic characteristics of quartz glass:

Quartz glass is a single component of silica glass. The glass has high hardness up to Mohs 7, high temperature resistance, low expansion coefficient, good thermal shock resistance, chemical stability and electrical insulation, and can pass through ultraviolet and infrared rays. Except hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, it has good acid resistance to common acids. Quartz glass has a series of excellent physical and chemical properties, such as:

1. High temperature resistance: The softening point temperature of quartz glass is about 1730 C, which can be used for a long time at 1100 C, and the maximum temperature in a short time can reach 1450 C.

2. Corrosion resistance: Quartz glass hardly reacts with other acids except hydrofluoric acid. Its acid resistance is 30 times that of ceramics and 150 times that of stainless steel. Especially at high temperature, its chemical stability is incomparable with any other engineering materials.

3. Good thermal stability: the thermal expansion coefficient of quartz glass is very small, and it can withstand drastic temperature changes. When quartz glass is heated to about 1100 C, it will not burst in normal temperature water.

4. Good transmittance: Quartz glass has good transmittance in the whole spectrum band from ultraviolet to infrared. The transmittance of visible light is over 93%, especially in the ultraviolet spectrum region, the maximum transmittance can reach over 80.

5. Good electrical insulation performance: Quartz glass has 10,000 times the resistance of ordinary glass, and is an excellent electrical insulation material. It also has good electrical performance even at high temperature.
