A large number of electric light source using quartz glass tube, thanks to the electrical melting technology and vacuum hydroxyl technology development, our country can produce electricity for lighting light source with the quartz glass tube, the annual output reached more than 20000 tons, the output value of about 600 million yuan, a large number of export products. From the 70s of 2O century, China began to develop the technology of quartz glass continuous melting, which has been progressed slowly. In 1991, the more than 20 sets of continuous smelting furnaces were introduced from the British BG company, which were modeled and improved. The electric melting and melting base was built in Jiangsu East China Sea. The development of quartz glass for lighting and electric light sources has made leaps and bounds. In terms of quartz glass tubes for special electric light sources, there are mainly transparent and milky tubes for UV sterilizing lamps, UV curing lamps, infrared heating lamps, etc., and the output is less than that of the former. 
China Building Materials Institute has developed titanium doped silica glass, cerium doped quartz glass and filtered quartz glass, providing key materials for manufacturing special light sources and laser sources. The production of high pure raw materials have been used for high quality electric quartz glass production, the iron content is less than 0.5PPM, improves the UV transmittance, products have been exported in large quantities, and achieved good economic benefits; and clean and oil-free vacuum furnace hydroxyl molecular pump, reduce hydroxyl content, improve the surface quality of products, shorten the de oh time, saving energy; a successful trial of large diameter UV pipe, diameter of 90ram, used for fishing lamp manufacturing, to solve a big problem for the fishing lamp manufacturing; successfully produced high quality double quartz tube, used for infrared heater, the product has been exported. New progress has been made in hydroxyl technology, and the gap between the technology of quartz glass and the advanced international level in China's electrooptic source is still larger than that of the advanced international level.
